On July 17th 2021 Next Level Riding staged a super short track XC race on Mount Tzouhalem. The distance was approximately 1.4kms over a figure 8 track which involved some difficult and tiring road climbs and some technical and bermed descending.
The Participants were aged between 8 and 11 years old with varying results. One of the racers were heard to say, “That was the hardest thing I’ve ever done!”
It certainly wasn’t easy with those climbs, but it gave all participants an insight into racing and allowed us to talk about the difference between pain in the legs and shortness of breath. Everyone received a cookie at the end and those that made the podium received a few extra cookies.
Head over to Webscorer to see the results. Congratulations to all of you! The kids demanded that the Instructors also Race – so you can check out those results too…..
There are 2 official races this season – Mount Washington on August 15th and Cumberland Enduro on September 5th. It’s time to bring together the Next Level Team – Contact Alan to inquire about a spot on the team and train/ride with a a Cycling BC affiliated and NCCP trained Coach. Team Riders must be committed and have an unwavering passion for riding their bike. They must fulfil certain eligibility requirements to join the summer race program – there are limited spots. Racing at this age is a social and fun experience and the focus is on Skill development and an introduction to racing etiquette. We are not focused on results and only race for fun! There is no pressure to perform.
