Mountain Biking has become an extremely popular sport though 2020. As such the Kaspa Road Parking lot on Mount Tzouhalem, just like all other trail networks the world over, has become busy with traffic. This has caused a number of residents to complain about the safety of their street.
I fully support any move towards increasing the safety of local residents and visitors through traffic calming or street parking bylaws, however the municipality has currently placed a ban on mountain bike schools and clubs from operating in the Kaspa Road Parking lot on weekends.
I see this as discriminatory and an unnecessary move by the council that will only negatively impact the community and local mountain bike schools and groups.

I have heard so much great feedback on how the schools have been such a benefit for they child, helping with their confidence and and health of their child. I feel it is important to express how much of a positive impact the mountain bike schools have on the local population and therefore wanted to make it easy for people to email the council so I created this tool below:
Please take a moment to read and edit the below letter to council (by clicking on the “READ OR EDIT THE PETITION” link in the yellow section below) and make your own adjustments to it before submitting it. Putting something in your own words would be best! We need all the support we can get to not only improve the safety of the local area in regards to traffic, but also to stop the discrimination against mountain bikers at this multi-use public location.
If you do not want to use the tool below simply write a letter to council using their email: email@example.com
Please send your concerns and supports in as soon as possible as they intend to hear this in February.
Please share this page to anyone you feel would like to support.
