The PMBIA stands for Professional Mountain Bike Instructors Association and was founded in Whistler BC in 2006. It was created to fulfil the demand for a professional and modern certification course. The program includes the physics and biomechanics of mountain biking, alongside relevant teaching skills that can be applied to the world of mountain biking.
PMBIA Certifications
The certifications are constantly being developed and improved, using feedback from instructors, staff, clients and the industry as a whole. The syllabus was created to include elements of psychology, physics, sports science and began following experience gained over 15 years of training and certifying mountain bike instructors.
PMBIA Instructors must re-certify every 3 years and pay their membership dues each year to maintain their standing as a certified Instructor.
Worldwide Recognition
The PMBIA currently provides training in Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Chile, Czech Republic, Japan, Netherlands and Spain.
